Information gathered from comments is used solely to help Screen & Stream protect itself from spam and other abusive posters. We will on occasion use comments and the provided name of the commenter for editorial reasons elsewhere on the site — such as a blog post inspired by the comments. Information provided for comment verification is not sold or shared.
Surveys or contests
From time to time we may provide readers the opportunity to participate in contests or surveys on our site. If you participate, we will request certain personally identifiable information from you. The requested information typically includes contact information (such as name and shipping address). We will not share your street address or phone number, nor will we share mail addresses gathered via contest entries.
Email marketing lists
If you choose to communicate with us (for reasons other than posting comments or entering contests), we reserve the right to add your information to an email marketing list that could be shared with third parties. If we do share the personally identifiable information you provide, it will be with a responsible and product-appropriate marketing partner. These partners are chosen with care. If you want to opt out of any such list, simply include a statement to that effect along with your email. We do not cooperate with spam operations or similarly objectionable advertisers. We hate them, too.
Communications from the site
If you subscribe to our email service, we will use your address to send content to you (via Feedburner or a similar service). Out of respect for your privacy, each of these email provide you with a way to unsubscribe. No more than 12 times a year, Screen & Stream may choose to communicate with its email subscribers concerning site news, featured content or reader opportunities such as contests and promotions. We reserve the right to share your email address with product-appropriate marketing sponsors as described above.
